The Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Plastic Surgery is one of the largest university clinics for the treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system in Germany. In our clinic, the entire spectrum of these diseases is treated with state-of-the-art methods in interdisciplinary collaboration.
As a certified transregional trauma centre, we provide patients of all age groups and with injuries of all degrees of severity with treatment around the clock. Each year, more than 900 severely injured persons are brought to our emergency trauma rooms. Our clinic is SAV-approved (“Schwerstverletzungsartenverfahren”, or Severe Injury Type Procedure in English) by the employer’s liability insurance associations, meaning it is certified to treat even the most severe injuries.
Our areas of focus, in addition to the treatment of acute injuries, are the treatment of degenerative diseases, posttraumatic changes, and rheumatic diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Further focus areas of our clinic are paediatric orthopaedics, orthobionics, plastic surgery, and tumour surgery.
Our team, comprising 48 doctors and more than 115 nursing staff, attends to more than 4,000 inpatients and 30,000 outpatients each year.
As a university clinic, our doctors also devote a part of their time to science. Current focus areas of the experimental research are the treatment of osteoporosis as well as the stimulation of fracture healing. Therefore, our patients can directly benefit from the newest innovations.
On the following pages, we would like to present to you our clinic with its various departments (clinical, teaching, and research) and the clinical focus areas in more detail. Use the form appointment scheduling to book an appointment for any of our special consultation hours.
