Sarcopenia, meaning the loss of muscle tissue, is one of the main issues associated with tumour diseases, neurological disorders, and ageing. It leads to falls, immobility, and a loss of quality of life. The aim of this research project is to better understand the mechanism behind the condition of sarcopenia and to treat it more purposefully in the future. This is where new and innovative methods are used, such as gene therapy with AAVs or treatment by means of the RNAi method.
