The Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery has set up a co-op education programme. The Orthopaedic Trauma Career Programme is aimed at medical students who are interested in doing a doctoral thesis at our clinic.
A completed preliminary medical examination (“Physikum”) is required to apply for the programme. You can apply for an experimental or clinical thesis by sending us a letter of motivation. An application should be founded on the applicant’s motivation to participate in the long-term establishment of a scientific task group within this programme. Several applicants are accepted each year. Student participation in the on-call service programme is desirable but not a compulsory requirement.
The deadline for applications is always the end of February.
The students’ findings are presented and discussed at the annual “Science Days”. In addition to the intensive mentoring provided as part of the doctorate, the programme gives the student the opportunity to regular participate in clinical conferences and attend scientific congresses and further training courses.
The aim is to attract highly committed students to our clinic at an early stage of their journey to becoming a doctor and to get them involved in our scientific structures as early as possible. In addition to their doctoral research study, the candidates should be advised on and guided through the process of creating their own third-party funding applications and continuing projects. Each participant receives €500.-/month in financial support towards their doctorate.
